THE HORTI'CULTURAL LEARNING FESTIVAL

Fens Forward, Part of Fenscape – the Fens Discovery Centre and Springfields Horticultural
Society joined together to come up with an exciting and innovative Festival relating to Horticulture

The Horti ‘cultural’ Festival is a great way for people to explore horticulture in a variety of ways. The Festival includes a series of events, from talks and demonstrations to hands on activities.  Activities will cover topics including Art, Craft, Garden Design, Flower Arranging and more.

The idea of the Festival is to engage with adults and encourage then to come along and experience
something different relating to Horticulture. We hope that by attending an event, you might want to come along to another one and maybe pursue that interest further in some way.

All of the events will be taking place in the Springfields Festival Gardens.  In the warmer months, events will take place in a marquee in the gardens and during the darker and colder months, in the Bellamy Room at Fenscape.

You can find out more about these events via Email: fenscape@bydesign-group.co.uk or by phone on 01775 764800

All of the events are free to attend but we can only fit in about 35 participants at each event and so it will be on a first come, first seated basis.

If you have small children you can book your place at an event in advance. What’s more, we’ve come up with a great way of getting parents with small (pre-school) children to the events. We’ve contacted a local Nursery and come up with a Free Voucher Scheme so that you can drop your child off at the registered nursery and attend the event of your choice and then collect them afterwards. The voucher will be valid for 2 hours as the nursery is only down the road.

THE SPRINGFIELDS GARDEN ANGELS SCHEME

If you’re interested in gardening and are looking to learn more about horticulture, you can volunteer to
help in the Springfields Horticultural Society Gardens at Springfields by joining the Garden Angels Scheme.

A Garden Angel would join the scheme at Springfields under the supervision of the Head Gardener and his team.  Angels can get involved in many different aspects of gardening, helping to keep the gardens looking their best. Activities might range from planting and pruning to collecting seeds and composting.

All that would be required would be a regular commitment of at least a few hours a week, fortnight or month. If you would like to spread your wings and help a little, and at the same time enjoy some exercise and good companionship contact Springfields Horticultural Society Ltd. on 01775 724843 or email: info@springfields.net

FENSCAPE EDUCATION MISSION STATEMENT

The Fenscape mission is to realise its vision by providing a comprehensive educational service that helps to support employment in the Fens as well as the local economy and by developing targeted educational opportunities to key sectors in the Fens society.

BIGGER DAYS OUT

Fenscape will be able to offer schools a themed, carefully organised and co-ordinated day out in The Fens. These themed days will link into nearby attractions which relate to specific topics.

Fenscape will act as the co-ordinator to simplify the process of organising a day’s visit to a number of attractions and work with local coach companies to supply vehicles at a discounted rate for the purpose of a day out in The Fens.
